NXW Expands science technology team

After receiving investment from NZX-listed Booster Innovation Fund, NewFish is expanding its science technology team across San Francisco and New Zealand labs:

Dr Adrienne McKee will be joining NXW as CTO, leading the science technology function to refine scale up science and product production plans. With a Harvard PhD in microbiology, and 15 years of experience in advancing research and commercial objectives with Solazyme and Checkerspot, Adrienne will be an invaluable asset to the company as we progress towards the US launch of our natural, complete nutrition applications from water.

Dr Neda Irvani, a Ph.D. Food Science graduate from Otago University, is joining the laboratory team in Palmerston North. Her expertise lies in microalgae biology, cultivation techniques, and advanced protein extraction methods. With a strong background in biotechnology and proteomics, Neda brings a dedicated approach to the field of plant-based protein extraction and isolation.

NXW is also pleased to welcome two new summer R&D interns - Arianna Iaccarino and Victor Savage. Funded by Callaghan Innovation, the R&D porgramme aims to give tertiary science students real world R&D experience and to create a new generation of Kiwi innovators. This marks the third year NXW has participated in the program:

Arianna Iaccarino has just completed her final year at the University of Auckland graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology. Arianna is a passionate and hard working scientist eager to kick start her career.

Victor Savage is working towards a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at AUT. He is providing hands-on assistance to the NXW science team in Palmerston North to develop and refine a protocol for extracting protein isolate from microalgae.
